Title: SKS-63
Post by: Power Surge on July 24, 2015, 04:57:24 PM
Picked this one up today. If it looks familiar...it's on the guide page. I got this beauty from xxxsksjoe.

This is a model 63 SKS. New manufacture in 1988. First SKS with a thumbhole stock. Full 20" barrel. Neutered bayonet lug, and milled open front sight hood. Takes AK mags. Chinese 5 round mag in the pics below.

Are you kidding? I shoot all my SKSs! The first thing I do when I get a new one is take it to the range, make sure it functions properly, and sight in the irons  8)

Danny, the stock is cut the same on both sides, so it should be the same grip for either lefty or righty :)

Little range action with the 63 today. Shoots pretty good. Several 4-5 inch groups at 100 yards open sights. I like the open front sight hood, doesn't distort the sight picture like the closed hoods do for me. The thumbhole stocks are pretty comfortable too.

Power you're a "dead-eye" with that 63 & SVT, that's good shooting!

I found the 63 stock and overall feel of the rifle probably the most comfortable sks rifle I've ever shot....just feels good...:)

I'm sure...I was shooting Tula. I have vintage green box Chinese too, but it's steel also.

Winchester white box metric, most of that is contract made by S&B, I have a couple of boxes, like x25 Tok and x54r stamped Made in Czech Republic.
