Ran upon this one while browsing pawn shops during a weekend jaunt. I'd already spent my limit on another find and shouldn't even have been looking any more, but I couldn't leave an Izhevsk there at the mercy of any Bubba that might walk in, right? ::) And besides, it's the only Izhevsk SKS I've encountered in the wild.
It appears to be original matching except for the trigger group. Shellac is a bit rough, but it's mechanically sound, and the bluing is in great shape. I'd hazard to say that it hasn't been fired much at all-even the op rod is fresh and virtually unmarked. It came complete with sling and cleaning kit.

Nice find and pictures too.
Super jealous! Great find. Congrats.
Look at that stock. And the lovely Izhevsk blue. Don't ever make the mistake of selling that one. Beautiful rifle congrats!
As a decent person, you did the right thing by rescuing it. I applaud your sacrifice sir.

Unless you sell it to me! Seriously that is a great looking specimen, congratulations on a beauty of a snag.
Very nice pickup relic. I can understand ignoring the budget a bit when you happen upon something like that! thumb1

Get in line, Copernicus. Why am I admin'ing if I can't have first crack? chuckles1
Actually, Relic, come to think of it...I'll trade ya a NEW or Remington for it. You're a Mosin legend. You don't need this SKS.
Pfft! Be careful of anything you get from Blicero Relic. It'll likely be covered in mineral oil and may require a gunsmith to make work again. silly1
And whatever you do, don't let him try and talk you into trading for an old yugo m59/66. That thing is a hunk of junk! chuckles1
Well color me purple and call me Barney! I can't compete with that...I'm ouftta here!
Good snag relic!

Don't let RM's chiding deter you. I gave him access to my safe and in return, I'm sure he'd admit, he got the pride & joy of his collection. He worked that voodoo and gave me a 300$ rifle for a $800 one.
I tracked Russians for a long time on GB and never watched one of this pedigree. Strange creature. Nonrefurb but with one mismatching part? Wonder what the free market would determine its value as?
Any interest in a Yugo SKS with character and soul?

It's all matching except the mag, bolt, stock, extractor, receiver cover, bolt carrier, and sight.
Almost matching. And there are lightening boulder gouges in the wood. Contributes to ease of carry. Sweet package.
Let's deal!

Hmmm, I may have to pass on that deal. Now, if someone offered me a trade for a '42 Tula PU I'd be tempted. :)

Ouch, that's like a swift kick in the nads! timeout
You'd better be careful blicero, you're dealing with a professional here. Not a two bit horse trader like me who doesn't know a yugo from my (well you know)! chuckles1
I find the both of you just thoroughly impossible to talk to.

Somehow I missed this one while on travel. Nice pick up!!!
...and I like how you think! thumb1 I ran into my first Russian SKS in the wild recently and I had to save it too (just a '54 Tula with an arsenal force-matched stock) even though Blicero had just recently helped me spend most of my June gun budget :))
