Title: Surplus Stripper Clip Question
Post by: Worm on March 25, 2015, 01:33:17 PM
The only stripper clips I ever got around to buying were shotty ncstar oncs that won't fit the carrier guide.

I found someone selling some that claim they are PLA surplus, and have markings 111, 31, & circle marks on them. I would imagine these are legit surplus that would actually fit my carriers but has anyone else had these?

any insight is appreciated.

Worm I have some that are marked with a "31" inside a circle, had problems with pushing the entire ten rounds in (hung up after about eight rounds) but I worked with them a little until they are now functioning as intended. The lips that held the cartridge rim were too tight and the curve of the clips was too deep.

I have heard of the "31" clips without the circle around them but have no experience with those. A lot of people that used both reported they had zero problems with them...I guess it's just "hit or miss" maybe!

Good luck.

Worm I don't remember who it was that told me about the clips marked with a BNX or something of the sort but they are said to be the best if you can find them.

Supposed to be available on a site called Old Sarge's or something like that!

I very vaguely remember hearing the same thing, I'll have to check that out if these PLA ones by chance don't work out or if I decide to get more. Thanks man!

Let me know if you don't mind, I need to be getting some more also. I'm down to about a dozen!

My understanding is that the BNX stamped clips are Yugo surplus which would be of superior quality if that is the case.

I'm pretty sure a couple other members have Yugo stripper clips that had M67 attached, maybe one of them will chime in to confirm, but I also believe that is the case.

I got a few circle 31 strippers in the last deal I made.  I have used them and the rounds push through them nicely.  They fit and feed well, though I have no idea how much they were used before I got them.  I did notice that some of the circle 31 strippers seem to be parkerized while some are gloss.

I have a bunch of the Yugo ammo on strippers from SG.  Those strippers were a little stiff but get better after reloaded a few times.

Thanks for that, good to hear reviews in each one. Cant seem to find any reviews of the 111 ones. Ah well, guess ill have to find out on my own. Might have to get me some Yugo ones next

just dug threw some of my yugo stash. Different year productions...621 no circle, 341 no circle and 1981 headstamped fresh out the 40 rd box that has grey strippers with no markings at all ( they would probably be considered parkerized).

I know I have some with a 31 no circle as well. All these different number stamps are VERY small, in the middle of the stripper. Will keep looking to see if I have any 111 stamped 1's.

Thanks hippie!

Turns out I lost the 111 & 31 stash of 50 on GB when I wasn't paying attention. Gah.

So I bought these instead. I have no idea if I overpaid but at least I'll have some now.

These are just 31 marked apparently, & are brand spankin' with cosmo.

You didn't over pay at all. A good stripper clip is worth a buck a pop every day. Looks like after shipping you got those at a smidge under a buck each so well done  thumb1

I know I have 31's around hear somewhere. Thought the came off yugo's from years ago but probably chinese. Which is fine, I've used 'em for years and no issues.

Saweeeet! Good to know I did alright. Granted that will only hold me 200 rounds, it's a start.

Also nice to hear they will do the job. Always had to load by hand but that's about to change!  thumb1

I have some 31's that work ok. The ones in my M67 stash have no markings and are that charcoal gray parkerized type finish.

Thanks Carl,

Would it be safe to assume those came on the m67 and are yugo themselves? They work good?

I checked some of my yugo stash on strippers tonight as well.  1971 head stamps and no numbers or circles,  grey "parkerized".  The rest of my Yugo stash on strippers in down deep and out of reach at the moment.

I ordered more from SG because I like the ammo and the strippers.

Yeah the charcoal gray 1's are definitely yugo that Carl and I are talking about. Doesn't mean all the gray 1's ya find would be Yugo though. ( although I don't know of any commercial clips being gray but ya never know)

Make sure you practice a bunch with whatever stripper clips you have, before you go to tweaking on them. It takes a lil practice but will become very fast.

A lil tip....Whenever your practicing or shooting with them , get into the habit of putting the empty clip in your pocket rather than putting it down or tossing 'em. Its a good habit to get into and you will still have clips for years to come...those buggers get lost real easy.  thumb1

Thanks guys.

And yea hippy, I planned on pocketing em', they are obviously very reusable & I am already in the habit of dumping mags when empty.

Never waste a good mag or clip, a good habit to get into  thumb1

Yes, these are on Yugo M67 ammo pre-loaded on the stripper clips at the factory. Sportsman's Guide was still selling it a week ago but I don't see it on their site right now. It's getting very scarce so if you want some jump on it when you see it.

I hear ya. I didn't order any M67 when it was in stock at SG for lack of funds. I have a few hundred left but I'd like to have more. Better replenish the war chest with some liquid funds to keep on hand for such emergencies again.  8)

Just what i was thinking. I have a decent amount of ammo stocked compared to most but its nowhere near what id want it to be.

If only theyd come back with golden tiger, hard to beat that stuff. I had M67 and it shot real nice with real tight groups for the caliber, but i would rather have non corrosive as just a preference. Great stuff though. And it comes on them stripper clips i need  ;)

Hey, a pervert can always hope, right.

Since it's clips, I like.my Yugo ones, a drop of oil and they work slicker than snail snot.  And yea, I'm greedy, both cases, sealed and unsealed are awl mine.. :)  I like strippers, both kinds. thumb1

Samco still has M67 on stripper clips, or without if you prefer.  In my experience their shipping is too costly for me, but I live about as far from them as possible, while still residing in the CONUS.  If you're on the east coast or Midwest, in a major city, then shipping is probably more reasonable.

Noooooo! Im trying to save and buy spare parts right now. Show me this in a couple weeks  ???

Sure is tempting. Thats more than enough clips for me, and i would like more ammo...

Just wish it wasnt corrosive. No biggy.. Just hate rust and the extra work.

I bought the circle 31 clips on suggestion from the "other" site. They sucked. I had to tweak the ends a bit, and then they worked fine. But not out of the box. From what I understand, the BNX ones are actually for a different gun, but people say they work in the SKS better than any other clips. I haven't bought any because I have 20 of the circle 31s and I haven't ever used all of those at once.

Surge that was another problem I had with the circle 31 clips I have, most of them were too wide. I'm thinking I may break down and buy some of the ammo/stripper clips Phosphorus is talking about just to get the clips! I'm not crazy about shooting the corrosive stuff but everyone says those clips work great.

Wow, $2.99 per clip, ouch. I know they are supposedly Russian but dang. I bought a cross bolt and nut from that guy a while back. Good seller. It was in great shape and the price was fair. For some reason the shipping was delayed like two days, no big deal, but he gave me a little extra thing to make up for it. It was some sort of metal medallion or some such thing. Nothing stupendous but I thought it was a nice gesture for a delay I didn't even notice.

Always good to hear that stuff about companies. Thanks Carl.

yeah, 2.99 is a bit steep but being I only need 5 more to make 50, it's not so bad at least for now.

Wish i knew what the shipping cost was for samco globals yugo m67 that comes on clips. you go to checkout and it says shipping to be determined. well that can mean alot of things. lol

Yeah, the only way to find out is to call Samco Global and get a direct quote on shipping.  The shipping cost for their ammo is prohibitive for me, sitting kitty-corner from them in WA.

Just signed up in the forum and reading here about ordering M67 ammo from Samco.
I recently ordered the 420 round lot from them. Cost was $117.18 and shipping was
$24.50. These were not on stripper clips so could be a little more shipping for the 480
round lot which they have on the strippers. (they have the larger lots also of course.)
