Front sight post height
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:18:19 PM »
I have a puzzling situation, not a problem. Both my /26\ guns are hitting at the same POA however my 3 mil  front sight post is half again as high as the 11mil gun. As I said it isn't a problem because both are hitting the target at the POA, I'm just curious as to why the noticable difference in the height.

I'm using the same ammo with the same lot numbers so that shouldn't be the issue...anyone have any ideas/comments or the same situation?

Variables danny...

Machining
Crown
Harmonics
Very slight curve in barrel

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Thanks Cannon. There are always so many variables in the shooting sport that I suppose we will never fully understand all of them.

Danny, if your rear sight sits higher, that would explain it.  But then you'd have to figure out how come the rear sight sits higher. chuckles1  jd

Yeah it wouldn't take much would it Worm, maybe a few thousandths.

Wow, yeah another possibility. After reading your comment I looked and there is a difference in the gap between the sight base and barrel lugs of the two carbines.

Thanks to all for your input!

Danny, I have the answer to your problem.

So the 3mil SKS says to the 11mil SKS, "let's mess with Danny's head. You make it where he has to adjust your front sight up and I'll do the opposite. He'll spend countless hours trying to figure it out. Buahahahahaha" :P :P rofl rofl

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.
