For those that like oddities, here is the first .30 Carbine chambered semi-auto handgun. The AMT AutoMag III, this model was also available in 9mm Win Mag as well. It holds 8 rds, and in racking the slide, it feels like you pull it a mile. Some are known for issues due to quality control, the company switched hands many times through out history. This one I've been lucky with, it won't feed soft points well, but if fed regular FMJ, it eats it without remorse, and she has quite a muzzle blast. :o The AutoMag series was made in many calibers from .22WMR to the big 'ol .50AE

Wow that is odd. Pretty neat though. Many out there?

AMT went belly up several years ago. My guess is these gems are hard to find. I remember when the Long Slide model came out in the early 80's, I almost bought one as I was looking at buying my first .45 auto at the time.
They hit the market running but now they are seldom heard of, at least in my estimation.
That's a fine specimen GM, I didn't know they were built in .30 cal!

Actually, AMT is alive and well, the AutoMag II (a 22 WMR) is available in retail, the company is just in a different form, it is now owned by High Standard :o http://www.highstandard.com/index.php/home-amt

I didn't know that, thought they had gone under. A friend of mine bought the AMT Longslide in .45 auto years ago. He never had any problems with his, it was a real pumpkin roller!

That's pure bad-butt Saigon! Nice looking piece, shoots good with the long barrels I'm sure.

Just like OP's gun - The 30 cal is fine with FMJ - But the 10mm is picky - I still can't find anything that will feed fine - FMJs are OK depending on which - I don't reload so am at the mercy of what's out there -

Those grips have a retro look to them (like the P-83 Wanad) and that pistol is stretched out like the hood on a Buick 4-holer. I tell people the 30 carbine is like an over-sized pistol round so it seems appropriate to have a hand-cannon that'll fire it :)

I used to have a Blackhawk in 30 carb, and when I cracked off a few shots guys would say sweet things like, "JEEE-SUSS KEEE-RISTE!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING??!! :o :o
It was a definite inspiration to wear hearing protection back in the day when a lot of guys didn't. jd
