The beginning of my senior year in high school...
« on: July 10, 2018, 10:47:21 AM »
...was not spent in Communist Albania on the SKS line at Gramsh  :))

Here is the second of two 520mm barreled carbines chambered in 7.62x39 found in a single lot that I picked up at the recent Rock Island Auction (The other is here: http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=4088.msg45689#new ). A last year of production 1978 Albanian Type 56-1. It's matching and has definitely seen some use before import, but it's still in the grease, since the Albanians put it in storage. As I have a mismatched 1970 shooter, this one will stay in the grease for the foreseeable future.

Very nice.  I shudder to think of what these two probably set you back, but they are both very nice!  thumb1

Thanks  :)

It was a good price in today’s market considering the condition of both but they certainly weren’t cheap  :o

Very nice! Easily one of the best examples out there. Not a Nun, but likely none much better.  Nice catch.

Has the market for Albanians dipped or stabilized of late? I've seen a handful lately selling low final bids or not getting no bids at all. When I got mine of GB, I was the only bidder.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Is the subliminal message saying that you are 58 years old?

Yeah a couple months ago. Easier to move around to different lighting. It’s almost always sunny in the summer here in eastern WA  8)

:)) a reasonable guess but I was only 16 at the beginning of my 1978-79 senior year in high school. I’ll be 57 in September.
