What you think about this trade?
« on: October 22, 2017, 08:50:10 AM »
Soooooo you would all trade A S&W 329pd .44mag for this right? I have $400 into the revolver although probably worth $7-800..........I really want an Albanian however the condition of this stock seems slightly rough? I know most of them are, I'm just scared of what might be under the cosmo.......The other guy is in ohio so I can't do a hands on inspection........alright you enablers what you think?

Or perhaps I should sell the revolver and put that towards a nicer one with better pictures on Gunbroker.......... I don't need one this second I just want one!!!! But I'm only ever going to have one Albanian, so I should make it the best one I can get my hands on ...... right? RIGHT!?

I would do it.. only because I know what a 329pd is like to shoot vs a real S&W 29... A pain, and I like big bore handguns.. Plus, that pistol frame can't withstand the real good hot magnum loads, even Corbon and Buffalo Bore advise against their loads in it. But, it is a light weight accurate powerhouse of a handgun with standard loads.

You might be better served dumping the pistol for the going rate of 750 and buying the rifle out right if it is less than the pistol. You didn't say what the asking price is....

One more on the plus side... You can always get a 329pd back pretty easy... Albanians  just aren't made anymore. :). Don't fear the Cosmo...
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I agree with GM.  I would sell the pistol outright instead of making an across the board even trade for the Albanian.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

It's quite a nice one Max. I'd be sorely tempted to do the trade if I was in your shoes.  Don't forget to add in the cost of the stock and handguard if he's including those. $25 min for the stock, $40 min for the handguard.  You won't lose out if you devide to go through with this deal.  I wouldn't worry about the roughness of the stock, You might spend months or years trying to find a nicer Alby than this one.

Good luck.  thumb1

Thanks guys it will be a straight trade and I will get the spare stock set as well, so unless something changes should have an All matching Albanian within a week  dance2........ the nice thing is the revolver will most likely be worth less in 5-10 years and the Alby will be worth considerably more. Now I need to track down a Romanian............

An Alby still in cosmo? Jump up on it!  :))

I look at a trade from what I have in it, what its worth and if both partys walk away happy. Albys arnt cheap but play up the S&W value and get the stock and hand guard tossed in if its an option. With $400 in the pistol, I'd be happy with a straight trade and both partys walking away just near bandit status  thumb1

If he's itiching for the pistol, I wouldn't worry about selling it but if he's cool with cash or trade either way...sell 'er off and pocket what ya can.

Edit: Just saw your post.... thumb1 No regrets in that trade at all brother, Good for you man!

No Romanian .... :o I mean... really.... nea1

The S&W really won't drop in value, they hold pretty level in value. Now if it goes out of production, then the price will rise some and then level off. There is a huge S&W following, then give it 10- 15 years after production ends and usually your looking at twice the original price.

Yep, I agree.  It is his to do what he wants with his property but I would not have done an even straight trade.  Now, if he would have hit me up for a Romanian, I could have fixed him up with 1 or 2 all matching a couple years back.  But the monetary gain was too tempting for me at the time so I had to oblige the buyers!   ;)

If it has cosmoline in my opinion that means nobody's screwed with it since imported  :) I wouldn't wait another day before I somehow got my hands on the Albanian. Many collectors don't even have one that nice. If you want PM me the link so I can get a closer look at it : )

Waiting For my FFL to open so I can ship the .44 to Ohio.... thumb1 as long as there are no "surprises" I will be happy.  The .44 was/is a ton of fun to shoot but I can always get another hand cannon

For an Albanian that stock actually doesn't look that bad at all.

Did your deal go through MxwllBkr? I think you're making the right choice in getting the Alby, regardless of how you're doing it. Looking forward to the pics when you get it!
