Title: Re-Chamber to the M43 cartridge???
Post by: Greatguns on June 05, 2020, 09:14:49 PM
Has anyone ever seen or heard of a Mauser being re-fit for the 7.62x39 Cartridge? Curious if it is economically possible with say a Spanish M1916 or the like.

Don't think the length will let you get there without some kind of insert or possibly shortening the entire breech and rethreading the barrel lug, even 6.5 Swedish Mauser is way long:

Thought there was something ut there for a Mauser. Now, if a guy could find a $100 Swede or Spanish donor rifle for the project. Probably end up with as much money tied up in it as you would just buying a CZ-527 though.

Yeah, I know Ruger is the cheapest on the market by about $100 or more, but it has a synthetic stock while the others have wood stocks so there is a good chunk of the cost difference right there.
