Greetings, My intro with rifle picture
« on: April 26, 2020, 08:06:55 PM »
Hello everyone,

I've been following and using this board for a while as a non member searching out information for a project Norinco Paratrooper I've owned for several years.  Now that I have finally made some progress on the firearm, I thought it only fitting to join and share some photos.

This is the firearm more or less how I purchased it way back in like '05, all that's missing is the terrible 30 rd poly mag of that time.  Needless to say I didn't enjoy it in this configuration and so I didn't take it out all that often except to clean.

This is the same rifle after putting some time in this weekend changing the dust cover, firing pin, and most notably the stock.

Thanks for having me and I look forward to sharing more information about the mods I've done and why I chose them. One day I may even write the story of why it took roughly 15 years to get to this past weekend.

Welcome from Kentucky, SKSRancher.  Good to see that you're no longer in the shadows :)).
Nice stock on your rifle.  While I personally like them in original configuration, yours looks good with what you've adapted it from.  Cheers, Bruce.

Welcome to the forum!  In my opinion, I prefered the look of your SKS in the combat exchange folding stock.  But that is just me.   ;)

Welcome from Arizona.

I have my eye on a neutered Chicom for a similar setup.
What stock is that?

Welcome from Washington!

I’m definitely far to the left on the purist-modifier spectrum but I do like the looks of that stock  thumb1

Might it be a Coulter Grey Custom Monte Carlo stock?  They are very distinctive.

It’s a prairie hunter from Boyd’s in pepper laminate.

Hi and welcome from Kali. If the receiver cover matches the rest of the rifle, I'd put it back. PAX

It's a mismatch. The trigger group, bolt, and reciever all match, but the dust cover was a poorly fit replacement.

Welcome from SW Missouri! Glad you stayed around and joined us!

I have a 1966 Chinese Type 56 SKS that came to me in one of the Advanced Technology Inc. folding stocks, (like yours). It had been factory altered to para-length, so it was a handy size. I'd always wanted to find a nice Monte Carlo-type stock for it but never got around to it. I do like the look and color of your stock.
