It has very good fit and finish, correct safety markings, detachable bipod, it is basically correct configuration even though it is not matching serial numbers, only the bolt and carrier match but the front trunion is marked M72AB1 1984.  Not a bad value for a sort of rare RPK rifle.

Wont have it to the range til next week.

Nice rifle, scottyB! How's the bore look? Was it a factory barrel or a new barrel replacement at build?

I had always wanted an RPK of some kind but never got around to buying one before the supply ran out and prices went up. Ideally, I wanted a Chinese Type 87S or Type 87J from the /416\ arsenal. (Polytech, of course  thumb1 )

There was a preban importer of Yugoslav RPK and other fine examples of 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 8mm, and 7.62x54R rifles that I would have liked to have had one or two of. Mitchell Arms? They made some nice rifles, too.

For some great Chinese AK/RPK porn, try this site: The Chinese AK-47 Blog  It's got a bit of everything nice.

Barrel is USA made either GM or AKBuilder.   I do have a NHM91 that is dressed up with a Russian club foot stock.  The Chinese RPKs are even more rare than the M72AB1.

I have a 1965 dated matching #s Romy M64 RPK that I have all the parts for a build.  Got the kit from AoA, it will sort of complete my Romy AK collection.  I already have the AES10B.

Then there is my Molot non matching build and a Vepr 1V around here somewhere.
