Title: A 1964 P-1 with addition another P-1
Post by: Donp236 on July 12, 2017, 07:06:52 PM
Here is post war P-1 that was made by Walther in 1964. It was originally used by the West German BMI (Bundasministerium des Innern) X-ed out. The Federal Ministry of the Interior.  It was imported by Interarms.  The magazine was stamped with the last thee digits of the gun serial number.   This is typical of the German law enforcement guns of the time.   This P-1 was probably used by the German Frderal Border Patrol of the Bundesgrenzschutz.  The frame is duraluminum, it is also an original P-1 designation (began in 1963) nothing has been modified or replaced.  It is a true cold war relic.  I placed it here because of its German Federal service.

Nice. Basic black for the post-WWII Cold War era. Are most of the imported P1s some type of refurb or mixed parts guns?

I'm guessing you have every era and every maker covered in the P.38, P.1 lineage.  Favorites?

P32 yes I do.  I also have a parkerised P-1 that is all refurb parts its serial is 009600 which dates back to 1958 and has Bundesweir (West German Army) acceptance.  The only thing original on it is the serial number.

Here is the  Walther P-1 009600 (1958) I was referring to in the last post. All refurbishments of the P-1's were done at the St. Wendell facility in West Germany at the time. This pistol showing the stamps, W87 or 1987 was the last update.  This P-1 has the fat slide and the reinforced frame as well as several other enhancements. I have wood grips instead of the original plastic grips because I still occasionally carry this pistol.  You can see the difference between the original P-1 at the top of this post and the P-1 in the last of this post.
