Title: Polish Wz-48
Post by: Greasemonkey on April 13, 2015, 11:15:56 PM
Poland built these between 1948-1960 for training new recruits. The later years, '57-60 production is questionable or was very limited, as I understand, very few later year rifles were imported during the short importation period. They were built at the Lucznik (Radom) plant and are a single shot .22lr. They resemble the M-38 Mosin more than the M-44. The stock is a modified standard Mosin stock, a Mosin stock minus the inletting.  The initial early production had an archer stamp on the barrel shank, shortly after it changed to the standard oval 11.  A very common issue with them is wear to the edge of the chamber from being dry fired, also damaged or broken firing pins. Just something to look for if one has interest and happens to stumble upon one.

That's freakin' awesome Carl,

So if it's a modified Mosin stock then it's just about full size then ey?

Very cool!  thumb1  I love these military 22lr trainers and this one is especially neat because it looks so similar to the service rifle (or carbine).

Thanks for the tips on damage/wear to be aware of when trolling for these milsurps.

Greasemonkey that is just cooler than a Popsicle! I find the front sight post intriguing, it looks to be "fixed", if so I'm assuming it would have to be replaced by a gunsmith if it were somehow damaged? Or do my eyes deceive me?! After looking at so many big bore milsurps it's funny to see the markings on the rear leaf sight!

What price range should one expect for one of these rifles in good condition? Were any of them ever scoped to your knowledge?

Scoped version, if they did, I've never seen them.

The front sight is a carbon copy of the regular Mosin, adjustable for windage.

Most of the ones I've seen vary between 225-300 pending condition.

Thanks Carl, I have some other obligations going on right now but if I run across one of these it's going home with me, I like that rifle!

I believe its Irunguns that is supposed to be bringing a batch of these into Canada soon. From where? Im guessing from the US or Poland.
Price is set at $275 real dollars,, which equal probably 375 Cdn pesos.

Very Good condition #'s Mtching Polish WZ-48 22LR Mosin Nagants coming 5 USD (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1232240-Very-Good-condition-s-Mtching-Polish-WZ-48-22LR-Mosin-Nagants-coming-275-USD)

And heck, theyre supposed to be listed on the Irunguns US website for pre-order but I dont see them :(

So,,, if we crazy Cdns can buy them, Im sure our southern neighbours can try n scoop some up first :). Just save some for us pls.
