Anybody ever hear of the SKS-5?
« on: April 17, 2016, 10:38:30 AM »
The world famous gunplumber apparently has one that needs a mag catch, and wants a pic to work from.
http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3209773

He says the mag catch is AK style, but not quite like an M.
Anybody ever hear of this?

Six corp gun...   Xxxsks may have some updating to do.  I've never seen it

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

He has updated his post with some pics, looks like the serial begins with 89 and it could be MOD K5.

Joe's got it covered on the Chinese SKS Guide page right down to the SKS-5 portion: http://chinesesks.weebly.com/ks-30.html

Not a large pool of those out there, it's a shame this one was bubba'd so badly.

When I was looking for info on my Six Corp SKS, I ran across these and IIRC I believe these were mostly made for the Australian market at the time. To get around high cap mag + certain rifle laws. I don't think there are many here in the states, might explain why. I'll see if I can find where I read it, Its been a while back.

I would like to see where you found this info. Post a link if you can. This is the second one in the data base with a serial number. That is a spread of over 3000 plus rifles. 5000 plus if it starts at 0.

Will do Joe.  thumb1 I try my best not to pass along any info that has a whiff of BS, so I must have thought it legit when I read it. Must be off the beaten path though, cuz I'm still looking.
