Saw this at Wal-Mart this evening
« on: June 13, 2015, 10:19:16 PM »
We were out doing some Saturday night shopping, wife needed canning supplies, we needed cat litter (%#%^* free cat).  Anywho, I always swing by the hunting and fishing section to see what crap they have that I can live without.  My daughter was bummed that her single shot pink .22 (that we have yet to buy for her) was gone. (Not a single gun in the cabinet actually, which happens occasionally).

Anyhow long story short, I actually saw .22lr on the ammo shelf!!  I couldn't believe it, I haven't seen any there except for three federal bulk packs the day after Christmas, 2014 where I bought two of them and left the third for someone else.

I passed on the box I saw today.  I'll let someone who would actually use it buy it.  thumb1

Same thing at the Walmart in our area, or anyone else.

Yeah, my first thought was photo instead of even contemplating buying it. No idea what makes auto match different better worse than any other .22lr ammo. Considering that all I have in .22lr is a 4" revolver that I can't hit the broad side of a barn, I'd guess I don't need "target grade accuracy".  chuckles1

Agent Mulder, Agent Scully, I've got an X-file for you.

5.8 cents per round.  Reasonable pricing for plinking grade ammo, uh, I mean "target grade"   rofl

Nothing in a bulk box is target or match anything.

Automatch is just federal's version of 22lr ammo made for semi-autos. Like Winchester's M-22. It is high velocity with the bullet coated for smoother loading. After that it's just plinking ammo

What's 22lr? Is that for guns? Is that why this is in the ammo section?

Number of rounds should be in large type on every side of an ammo box... or even little type on 4 sides would be nice...  bat1

Yeah, when it's stacked deep in a cabinet with other boxes around it that's a big issue.  All by its lonesome like this, you can barely see it on the upper part of the left side of the box in my photo.  "325 rounds" in a grayish circle.  I calculated 5.84 cents per round before tax which ain't half bad these days.
