SKS-D and VZ2008
« on: August 21, 2016, 06:57:39 PM »
Took the two new rifles to the range today. The SKS-30 (D) and the VZ2008.

First up, was the SKS. Shooting Brown Bear ammo. Took some sighting in, then did some group testing. VERY nice shooter. Probably the most consistent SKS I've shot to date. Shooting off the rest, I managed a 2.75" group of 10 shots, open sights...

Next up was the VZ2008. I had been prewarned by GM that I would love this gun. It is pretty nice. Shooting the old Tula that was in the mags with the gun. Was a bit hard to get situated on the bench with the folder, but once I got it comfortable, it was nice to shoot. Has pretty much zero muzzle rise with the compensator. No sight in needed, it was on the money. After the bench shooting, I wanted to try standing off hand. All the 25 yard stalls were in use, so I said what the hell, let's try standing off hand on the 50. Was pretty surprised by the results....  all 10 shots on the 8x11 paper, with 7 of them in the 6" target area. Obviously that's partly the gun, and partly my skill, but I really don't shoot off hand much so I was really happy. Actually, I think that's pretty damn good for off hand open sights at 50 yards, lol.

Yeah, it's not bad. Very well kept and they are always trying to improve it anyway they can. I know the rangemaster and the safety guys pretty well from being there so much. I get the annual pass, it's $100.
