Just scored a case of 800 1971 BXN Czech 7.62x54 Light Ball for a decent price. Goes well with the Vacation find and all the other Mosins that seem to keep finding their way to my house chuckles1.

Can confirm complete garbage, but send it to me instead. You've already got my address and tell you what, I'll even cover shipping chuckles1
For real though, finding decent priced 54r surp right now is a real task in and of itself. Good score thumb1

They look a little like soft point hunting rounds.

IIRC, Silver tip designated light ball whereas yellow tip designated heavy ball.

So they are not standard steel core fmj?

Depends on the era and country of origin as to whether it is steel core or lead core. Silver tip is 146-148gr whereas Yellow tip is 180-182gr. Some like Bulgarian had no tip color, but were usually light ball and early stuff was copper-washed cases that are prone to split on discharge. Then you have your commercial SP ammo which is usually 180-208gr depending on if it is Russian made or US made. WOLF and such is usually the heavier gr bullet. I have only ever found 180 gr SP in brass cased US made stuff or PPU.

My experience with the Finnish M91 with the 32.5" barrel and very fast rate of twist is it preferred the 200gr ammo for long range accuracy.
