I'm a new member. I joined this group to learn more about my bring home SKS. I served with 9th Infantry, 68-69.

Welcome to the files from Kansas City, MO

I can tell you everyone is going to want to see pics of your bring back, LOL. We loves pics and a good story.

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Missed this pic. Shows the hit the barrel took as well and the bayonet.

Dang, that's a nice '63 build that really shows the been there done that stuff. Thanks for sharing SB68

Looks like you need a spring for your bayonet collar, They are fairly easy to come by if you are wanting one.

Welcome to the Files from NH. Thanks for your service sir.

Very cool battle damage on that Type 56.

Welcome from Kentucky/Colorado, Shakenbake68!!!  Very COOL rifle!!!  In my opinion, if the bayonet collar still works after taking frag hits, I'd keep it on to keep its' history intact.  Again, Great piece!!!

Welcome from the desert SW in New Mexico!

That's a nifty one.  The fact that you brought it back personally and know the story on it is wild though.  Many VN bringbacks and their original owners are, sadly, few and far between anymore.  You might write down how you came about it and consider keeping that paperwork (and any other paperwork such as DD-603's or Vietnam export licenses) with the carbine.  Would be nice to preserve that history in some way, shape, or form as so much is being lost these days due to carelessness, greed, or apathy.

Thanks for your service!  (& thanks for posting up this gem too!)  thumb1

Hello, fellow Buckeye I'm in NE Ohio. Helluva way to make an entrance. Sweet, sweet bringback.

GG, you keep your paws off that bringback no replacing parts on that baby. LEAVE IT AS IS.

PS- If you ever want to sell it I'll drive to you.  thumb1

Welcome to the 'Files from SW Missouri, shakenbake68! Way to make an entrance!  chuckles1

Were you close enough to the capture that you know if this was due to a frag grenade or a Claymore? Definitely an interesting bring back Type 56! We would love to know the whole backstory!

Were you able to hold onto your original bring back paperwork? Seeing that would help us develop our database and also helps us sort out the particular points of interest of the paperwork that was issued during that time.

Thanks again for joining! I hope to see you posting a full spread of your bring back in the Chinese SKS (Military) section!
