1879 Swiss Vetterli M69/71
« on: April 03, 2020, 01:19:17 AM »
Here's a 1879 Swiss Vetterli Model 69/71 it's number matching and missing the cleaning rod. I've got a line on cleaning rod for it. I'm still looking for a bayonet for it.

When I found it at a local gunshow the owner originally had it priced at $475.00, at some point he lowered it to $375.00, and I left with it for $250.00 out the door. Which made me very happy.

The last picture shows a Swiss 10.4x38 aka Swiss 41 that the rifle takes, it's flanked by a 44 Magum cartridge and a 12 guage shell. It can hold 11 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. I have an example of every round my weapons take for display purposes.

Those are interesting old rifles. A rimfire of such a large caliber is quire remarkable. Basically an extinct cartridge.

I've got an extra bolt for it,  as I refused to modify the original numbers matching one. The second bolt has been converted to center fire,  and I put a few rounds down her pipe.

At $200.00 for 20 rounds, unless I get into reloading it won't get shot much.

Sarge, looks good. I'm going to reload for mine and hopefully throw some lead with this thing in summer. I do need to find another bolt for centerfire mod first. I have 60 cases waiting to get loaded up.

It was a blast to shoot her, and people at the range asked a lot of questions. She's an attention getter that is for sure.

You'll enjoy shooting her that is for sure. Good luck on the reloading and let me know how it turns out.

All my milsurps have been found at gunshows, gun shops, and pawnshops.
