Did yugos have scopes and launchers?
« on: January 06, 2017, 08:23:46 PM »
Next month there's a gunshow near me.  The last 3 years a guy has had a yugo with a grenade launcher and a side mount scope that looks believable.  It is of course way way more than i can afford i want to say 7 or 8 hundred bucks (cdn).
I always look at it and wonder why the two things are on the same gun.  Seems like you'd give the good shot the scope and someone else a launcher, plus i dont even know if its the right scope, and there's a lot of mosins with scopes added trying to be passed of as snipers up here, so i always pass it by.
My questions are:
is a scoped yugo a real thing?
Is a scoped yugo with a laucher a real thing?
How do you tell if its the right scope?
etc

There were scoped 59/66A1s out there, but few and far between. You can occasionally find the scopes and mounts for sale. Rarely the complete package. I don't know if they are serialed to the gun or not.

The reason for both a scope and a launcher is that when they started manufacturing them with the launchers, they stopped making them without them. The launcher totally redesigns the gun, simply leaving it off would not work...well it would, but it would look silly. If anything, all that weight up front would make for easier follow up shots.

That price actually sounds pretty good if my mental exchange rate is anywhere near the current level...depending on condition of course. Get some pictures if you can.

It looked a lot like that.  The gun show is in Feb so i am just going by faded memory, but i do recall the quick detach, for want of a word, thumb screw and the scope was a kind of silver/grey/green hammered texture finish.

If it had the scope and was sub-1500.... Smokin deal

Nope, he  had the same table 3 years in a row but i didnt see it this time.
In his place was someone buying scopes and mounts on the internet and selling them off as snipers, svt, mosins and of all things a M1938 'sniper' carbine. rofl
