w/o a doubt man, love it! Any chance you have or can get a pic of the finger splice on that stock? I'm kinda digging the contrast in wood colors. EDIT: Just noticed the JH beside the S.A. stamp. I haven't seen that before....
As a matter of fact, I do.  Also, the right side of the stock has a much greater contrast in color than the left.

The JH on the Châtelleraults stands for Jacob Holtzer & Co., which was one of the steel makers for the barrels.

The crazy mixed up history on some of these, is 1 of the reasons I enjoy them so much. 1 finn M91 I have has at least 6 different arsenals parts! My stamp/proof OCD had a field day looking up all those stamps.  rofl

Love the 1894 date on that puppy. My oldest is my P-26 with an Izzy receiver marked 1896. I just had to shoot it  :-[  :) I need to do a post on the P-series , the story on them is downright  cool.
Yes, you do  :)  Would love to see and hear about them  thumb1

Your gun might be too long when in the late 1800's, there weren't old growth forests that supplied lumber in long enough lengths to make a complete stock for the friggin thing and they had to splice two long boards together to get an even longer one!  chuckles1

punish1  :))

The M91s are really long. The splicing probably saved wood and in some cases a Soviet butt stock was spliced to a Finnish made foreend, so the conservation measure is probably one valid rationale.  The splicing is so prevalent among different types of Finnish Mosins, that a functional rationale is undoubtedly also true. These splices resulted in strong true stocks that didn't warp in the changing temperatures. The Finns use of a pine tar/turpentine/linseed oil blend finish created a good water proofing finish that further aided the prevention of warping. They were excellent rifle builders and marskmen.  geezer1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I've got one, a '39 Tula. It's matching #'s but I think the mag was scrubbed (looks like) and I'm certain the bolt was, I can see traces of a previous number. The bolt also has one or two marks used by Westinghouse.

I may be immune to Mosinitis, I haven't connected with this rifle. I don't hate it, but there are other things I want more, much more, so if someone likes it and is interested in maybe owning it, shoot me a PM. I may list it before long. At one time I had hoped to assemble a group of  WW2 rifles, but I don't really see that happening.

The bore is a bit dark but it still has decently strong rifling. I fired it about 3 dozen times at 50 yds. +/-, I was about 6- 8 ft higher than my target and shot consistently low.
