Hi,
I'm a new member from Oklahoma. I acquired an SKS and would like some help identifying when and where it was manufactured.

Hello, welcome to the SKS-Files.
You have a 1966 Chinese Type 56 carbine there. It was built in Chongqing at Jianshe Arsenal (which by this point in time was a amalgamation of previous arsenals [such as Arsenal 21, Arsenal 26, etc.] which had been moved from other areas to the relative safety of central China). The year 11 series contains the highest observed S/N in all of Type 56 production, topping out at a S/N over 590k.
Looks to be in a replacement stock and the carrier appears to have had some corrosion issues in the past. Scope mount is an aftermarket add-on. They are well built and good shooters. thumb1

Running-man,
Thank you for the info. Do you have any idea on the approximate value?

Nice rifle. I'm in Edmond, OK. I'm interested in how the scope mount works out for you. My old eyes are starting to have issues with the iron sights. I plan on trying a red/green dot on mine this weekend, using a gas tube mount that was on mine when I got it. I have a 1975 /636\.

Probably $400ish in its current condition. Maybe a bit more, the market is pretty fickle these days though. The replacement stock and scope mount crater the price, unfortunately, as a pristine as-issued /26\ could go for $600+...
