Israeli Capture (?): First Chinese Batch (1964)
« on: November 03, 2023, 11:44:39 PM »
Whatever the where, how, and why of these, here's one from 1964. I posted this one on a companion site years ago, and at that time it was regarded as unusual for the counterbored muzzle. I've included better photos here of that feature. It also has a heavily burnished bolt carrier, and until I took the most recent photos, I didn't know it had some crappy reflective foil/paper between the stock and the receiver. Enjoy:

Great photos j, I would say yes. Right serial range, laminate stock, importer and Arabic rack numbers. Is the bayo slot double cut for both blade & spike? PAX

Good catch, PAX; it's a single cut for the blade bayonet. I'll edit the post to include a shot of that aspect. Might be posting a double-cut soon...

Nice IC example! Great photo spread! thumb1

I love the rack number 34 8)  Neither of my ICs have intact rack numbers, just a few flecks of paint in the right location on one.

The two lines of the import mark on opposite sides of the barrel are interesting. Apparently the company, address line, and model, chambering line were separate stamps.

I have never seen a counter-bored SKS, so I agree that is unusual too.

I wonder if it had a blued bolt carrier that some uninformed previous owner treated with an acid soak and polishing wheel think1 doh1

I've edited the original post to add some shots of the single cut (for blade bayonet) aperture/slot in the stock.

Thankfully you got it before someone put on a cover mount in plastic wood with a duckbill mag. PAX

Thanks, Worm! As I hinted earlier, I'd like to post some images of a later example with the blade/spike double bayonet cut, and I'll try to get that done before the week's over.

Here's mine at the bottom showing the double cut bayo channel. PAX
