Unusual Yugo SKS need information
« on: June 07, 2019, 10:30:47 PM »
I remember J&G sales has these a few years ago, I don't know anything about this type, if anyone can let me know what the deal is with these, please share! The pictures are from the seller, I just got the firearm today and will upload more pictures later, no serial numbers on the parts, the left side of the receiver has "BA TRB G16 002217 M59/66 Cal.7,62X39MM" Right side of receiver has "YUGOSLAVIA PW ARMS. INC. REDMOND. WA" Also no Yugo numbers on any parts, would really like to know the date of manufacture. Thanks for any information.

It's a complete and total rebuild from Bosnia, TRB rebuilt rifles using pretty much all new parts, and yes, the flash hider replaced the spigot.. No way to even judge the year, because it's basically new. These appeared roughly around the same time as the mislabled M59's that were actually neutered M59/66s. There are about 2 or 3 variants of these floating around, one is marked as G10, I think thats the "M59".
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

P32 came up with the concept that G10's were built/imported in 2010, and G16's were built/imported in 2016.  Pure genius if you ask me, I never would have put two and two together, but the timeframe fits the advertisements we've seen.  thumb1

The G10s did not have the flash hider.  These were often touted as M59's even though anyone with basic collecting experience could easily see that they were cut down/refurbished M59/66s.  They retained the grenade launcher rear collar though since the bayonet requires that to latch into place properly.

The G16s had the flash hider (I assume to not have to muck around with removing the GL threads and recrowning) but in essence were identical to the G10s:

Would you mind getting me a nice shot of both the left and right side of the receiver with the text clearly visible.  I would like to compare the S/N markings and import stamp to other known G16 examples and see if there are any differences.  thumb1

Looks like a very nice gun; I approve!

Does that receiver look odd or do I need to pull apart my Yugos?

Looks normal to me. The whorls on the piece of key stock are neat.
