Ex DDR handguard serials...
« on: November 24, 2019, 12:38:03 PM »
If you have one, I'm curious if your  /1\  stamped guns with the horizontal serials stamped on the handguards also have the serial numbers  ep'd on the gas tubes.

Thanks

I have a 1954 Izhevsk with the /1\ marking on the receiver and horizontal serial numbers on the stock and handguard. Incidentally, the stock is an old Tula stock that has been through the 1st GRAU Arsenal refurb facility (box with diagonal line on the right side of the stock), presumably before /1\.

The gas piston has the original EP'd number with single letter prefix and suffix, as does the gas piston. Both of those have a "pixellated" appearance. The gas piston has a second "502" added (picture #8) that clearly used a different type of electropencil. The prefix/suffix letters were left off of that marking.

Thanks Boris! Although it's a refurb stock, it is rather nice looking. BTW, I didn't buy this for the /1\ marking, but for the Izhevsk marking  8)
