Polish Honorguard
« on: November 30, 2014, 06:51:12 PM »
Hey....  its a start!    chuckles1

Always wanted to do a 'correct' Polish honorguard rifle.  Picked up a stock complete with handguard and ORINGINAL buttplate.  Interesting to note, I have looked at the butplates on these in every original exaple I can find and some look 'in the white' and some look dark as if it were blued.  When I received this stock, the buttplate was heavily worn from years of slamming yo the pavement and scuffing on boots etc and it had no external finish to speak of what so ever.  Upon removal of the plate, I found several indications on the underside indicating that these buttplates were originally blued, including the screws.  So thats how mine will be.

Anyhow....  here she is.   Need to pickup a russian that bubba decided yo drop in an aftermarket stock and I'm all set.    :)

Nice. That really is a gorgeous stock. Find yourself a decent Ruskie for that beaut..

Really is neat to have one of the rarer stocks out there, from an oddball country that never made the sks itself, that we know of.

Lucky!

See....  these guys used these like walking sticks.    Underside of mine had bluing, and the threaded portion, shank, and under the head of the screws were blued.

That's cool. I learn something new every day here. I didn't know the Poles restocked Russian SKSs for their preference in appearance and/or specific use.

It's interesting in that honor guard picture that the soldier on the right (direction of march) has his bayonet extended but the one on the left has his folded. Seems rather non-uniform.

Looks to me like the were just moving from one location to another in that pic.... not exactly marching.

Judging by the bluing I had on the screws and under the plate itself.....  I say blued and heavily worn away on shoes ans pavement.

I kinda wish I could see underneath mine now.  Mine is pitted pretty good.  Still in one piece, just has some pretty good signs of use.

The underside was pretty rusted, but you can see areas with blue.
