My Lucky Day, M59 score
« on: November 22, 2019, 09:11:31 AM »
I had to post this one. A friend of mine was at a "mom and pop" gun store about an hour away and he called me when he left. He knew I was (fond) of the SKS's and he said there was an SKS on the rack with some cosmoline on it but he didn't know what it was. So I called the store and the old fella answered, I asked about the SKS and all he said was, "the tag say's Zastava M59"
and I don't know much about these, It's on consignment and my wife took it in a few months ago. I asked him if it had a grenade launcher on it? And the next quote was "Hell no", why would it have that?  rofl. So now I'm LMAO and said I'll be right up. Behold, a Yugo M59 before my eyes, with cosmoline on it.  So we talked and the price was $450.00 and after we talked more I told him I was retired military and he served in Korea, so after hitting it off I walked out of there with it for $365.00.  I hope this don't get me the coveted "you suck" award, but if it does I understand.  Pics are not great, it's cloudy but the stock and everything is in very nice shape.  My only flaw I see is someone mis-marked the trigger guard by 1 number, other than that everything matches.   Enjoy the pics!

Spectacular find, Welder!  Knowing nothing about Yugo's, I'd say that you made a great score!  Clean almost new rifle, sweet!

Yeah.. I'll say it. you win todays "you suck" award   chuckles1   It's not a bad award by any means...wear it as a badge of honor. thumb1

Mismarked trigger be dammed... I'd over look that..stress during refurb caused an error, and I cant see it when shooting it...it's all good in my book.

365 for a really....really nice M59 drool2 is pretty much unheard of these days........ the 450 and up is the norm.  And being on consignment to boot....if one around here is put on consignment..they will not budge on price. nea1
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

Thanks all, I'll clean her up with mineral spirits in the next day or so, it's raining here,  I don't want to disassemble it now.   My shop is a mess and I'll do it on a better day and get a couple better pics after cleaning.  thumb1

I’ll echo everything already said. You did extremely well.  thumb1

That trigger group may have been swapped with the group from the gun ten spots away too.  Many of these were crated in sequential order 10-20 at a time and it’s not unthinkable that more than one gun was apart and the wrong hardware managed to get installed back on this one.  Numbers on a yugo don’t deserve the same consideration with respect to price as they do on say a Russian SKS45 in my book.

Very nice specimen...  Are there any numbers on the side of the inner magazine when you drop the outer?  Does it match the trigger housing number?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Yes, but it doesn't match the trigger.  It appears to be 3 digits, 681 or 687.  It's electro-pencil.   I didn't see that before!

Those are the “assembly numbers”. They should also match each other, except, of course, on your mismatched trigger group.

So it's safe to say, it's "mostly" a matching rifle?  Not that it really matters much,  but I really appreciate this info!!!  thumb1 I'm sure it'll be a nice shooter, "I hope"...

You all are "REALLY" gonna hate me... I got a call today, from the shop I purchased the Yugo from, "because I asked them if they got any more SKS's in"  From the woman who owns the shop and they said they just got in a Chinese SKS.  She said they bought it "Cheap" because it was missing the bayonet.  Sooooooooo.....  I now own it... $300.00, out the door...  I'll post it on the Chinese side tomorrow!  I just "DON'T EVER"  have this kind of luck!!!   :o :o :o.  Oh, It has a triangle arsenal stamp 636 and serial# is in the 22 millions.   I've never bought 2 guns in 3 days. :o
