2012 'Firearms Talk' SKS article
« on: April 07, 2021, 01:04:42 PM »
Came across this 2012 thread while browsing the interweb. Despite the misspelling of Norinco in the first paragraph, the author adds a bit of nuance to the otherwise common factoids attributed to the venerable Chinese SKS.

More or less a rehash of the old mistakes (letter guns were first year production) that existed before the flood of early Chinese Type 56s that were imported from Albania.

Along with all the DB, DP, DK stuff, etc.

K prefix should make it a later '59 build IIRC

It's on the internet so it must be true. PAX

Old web pages like this are seen as ‘authority’ and perpetuate the varied Internet gospel on SKS carbines. This is one of the reasons why it will never be possible to stamp out the more egregious ‘facts’ that the bobbleheads pulled out of thin air and continue to promote. Not much anyone can really do about it unfortunately. We will just keep researching and providing data so people can make up their own minds.   thumb1

"nuance" being the operative word,  :) , these old posts (looking back on yooperJ's good work) signify the imperfect but honest attempts by SKS fans to publish their 'theories' - that everyone who follows can build on.
