New guy from Nebraska.
« on: September 15, 2014, 09:51:31 AM »
Thanks for the invite, site looks great, and I am excited to watch it grow.

A little about myself...grew up with firearms and am an avid hunter. I have always been drawn to military surplus weapons, and have a small collection of them. I bought my first SKS about 15 years ago, and for some stupid reason I sold it to my brother. A year ago I got my C&R, and now SKS's keep showing up on my door step.  ::)  In my spare time I build and smash up 65-78 mopars. If you ask my girlfriend I only have two seasons... hunting season and derby season.  ;D

What's up Brian!
It's Kevin, in case you haven't figured that out yet.
I like sophisticated, high class humor. That's why I always think of Family Guy when I see your name pop up.

Anyway. Welcome aboard. Don't make me ban you.

Thanks Kevin,
It is funny you mention that family guy scene. One of my coworkers says the same thing whenever I email at work. Believe me growing up with the last name Bush, I have heard them all, and no I am not related to any past presidents.  ;D

I don't remember you ever telling me how the m1 carbine turned out with my stock.
Post it up in the milsurps!

I think it turned out pretty good, much better than the bubbed up stock that was on it. Thank you again. I have yet to take any pictures of it. I will try to get some in the next few days and post them up.

Kevin,
Here are a couple quick ones I took last night. I will get some better outdoor pictures, and post them in the milsurps later.
I kept the original stock and hand guard together for whatever reason, and picked up a cheap hand guard I could match to the beech stock. It isn't the red color you see on many of the Walnut stocks, but it works for now. I am still on the look out for a TN/ Trimble stamped stock, but not wanting to drop 2-3 bills on one.
Here is the stock that came on it.  >:(

And here it is with your stock.

You should've seen that stock before he got it! It was stripped & sanded to hell & back. I believe it was an Italian stock...Terni marked?? Whatever it is, it looks fantastic now. Great job Brian.
And it had a giant split right in the middle. I'm guessing the repair took and he's shooting it regularly.
Awesome carbine too, early style nonrefurb from the looks of it.

Thanks Kevin, Yeah you can barely see the crack on the right side. I repaired it, and have put about 50 -75 rounds through it and it is holding up good.
I'll try to tear her down and get some better photos this weekend. Saturday I have an 8 hr CCW class, and the Huskers are going to beat up on the Hurricanes after that,  :o so it will probably be Sunday.

Welcome Brian.  Did you make the Lincoln gun show?  I was there Sat for a bit.  Got some Wolf black box. Military classic, and some M67 on stripper clips. all for .18/round.  Total round count was right at 600.

Bernie, I was there Saturday from about 11-1. I guess  I missed the deals on ammo. I looked at a few 7.62 ammo for sale, but they were gun show prices, so I quit looking. Guess I should have looked harder.  banghead1
