Is this Russian firing pin compatible with Chinese rifles ?
« on: October 06, 2017, 09:45:00 AM »
I'm thinking having a spare firing pin or two on hand is a good idea, and wanted to confirm that this Russian pin from RTGparts was compatible. I would assume so, since the Russians started arsenal 26, and by extension, all Chinese SKS production, but the ad cautions that there are different types, so I figured I'd better double check.

Photo shows an early style spring loaded FP.  These will not work (well) on Chinese bolts as the spring does not have a right angle surface of a counterbore to seat against like it does in the early Russian bolt design.  See Murray's page for a good description: https://murraysguns.com/sks-firing-pins/

You could go with a Murray's drop in replacement FP though they are quite a bit more than an surplus FP.  Personally I'd go with something like this: http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/sksfiringpinnew.aspx  That's a free floating pin and should work nicely in any Chinese, Romy, Alby, or Yugo.  thumb1

Outstanding! Thanks again RM, for the solid info, and the point in the right direction.
