New user from Iowa
« on: July 20, 2021, 08:31:36 AM »
Hello all,  I just joined this forum as  I am the proud new owner of 2 SKS's.  One Chinese run of the mill sks and one very nice condition type 84.  Looking forward to reading about these I believe great rifles.  I also bought a preban AK.  Another fun one. So , see ya around.   Fooey

Welcome from Washington. I grew up in Minnesota and visited relatives in Iowa often.  :)

Welcome from your southern neighbor in Kansas City, MO.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Welcome from SW Missouri, Fooey!  As others have said, it'd be great to see pics of your rifles! The Type 84 Assault Carbine is always an interesting specimen to check out! Not that many around. And the "run of the mill Chinese SKS" can be interesting in many ways!
Which preban AK did you settle on? You've piqued my interest, for sure!  drool2 drool2

Glad to have you here!

OK, I take it you guys like pictures! Don't blame ya.  I'll post some up soon! I'm getting a new BHO pin made for the 84. Old one didn't hold open well.  Not sure if broke off , too short or mis-made. At any rate I am not gonna modify original. It is the same dimensions as pin in post (on this site I believe) I saw for making new one . If I use a pen to push pin down it would hold fine but the top of pin was below top of hole.  Wasn't wore out as rifle was hardly fired if at all. I understand they were fired at factory before leaving. True?

I also am weeding out some of my guns and giving them to my son. (not really gone right!)  My interests have been leaning to milsurp in my old age.  Nowdays I like to go to range and shoot steel/paper targets.  Don't have to clean them. Recently purchased a CMP service grade Garand. Wow, what fun to shoot. Also found a very nice M1 Carbine, also a blast to shoot.

Getting late so TTYL

Well, Fooey, you've made quite an introduction here.
Welcome from Arizona.

I have friends in Ames.
I also have a real soft spot for M1 carbines. Looking forward to seeing you around the board.

So where is the proper place to load photos on this site? Anywhere? Some sites have rules and areas to post pics. Thanks

Go to the top and you’ll see all the sub-forums

https://sks-files.com/index.php

You’ll see Chinese SKS (military) etc. Start a new a thread on the firearm in the appropriate sub-forum. If you pick the wrong one it’s no big deal, an admin can move it.
