Title: H&R M12
Post by: Loose}{Cannon on November 02, 2017, 11:57:49 PM
Another great military retired rimfire.  Love this rifle!!!    Heck, it came from the CMP with a shortened butt, so I had to get an AL Freeland butt and hook and make the entire telescopic adapter myself from solid aluminum.   :o

I realize this is pretty dead, but I had to commend you on the stock work. That is an absolutely beautiful result.

Thanks, this one of my favorite rifles.

How stable is the telescoping butt?
I'm 6'5" and am looking to sort out Length of Pull on a scoped rifle. I thought of something similar to what you have here, but I've never had a chance to fiddle with one in person.
Would it stand up to hunting?

The sliding rods are solid steel and are cross pinned to solid 6061 aluminum. The alum part they slide into has two very large set-screws on the side.  Clamp the set-screws down wherever you want it and it will not budge.    thumb1

That's a great design! I can absolutely see how rock solid that must be.

I'll admit that I was over-engineering it to death in my head. I'm very glad I asked and thanks for the reply. Occasionally I need a full mental correction to operate within reason.

Have a great day!

That is a beauty - and the strap appears to be all made 👍
