Bedding input/advice for accurizing project.
« on: November 24, 2018, 04:22:21 PM »
I've got a mismatched, and bubba'd type56  selected for an accurizing project. The plan is to glass bed the stock inletting, and free float the barrel. If these mods produce favorable  results, the final modification will be the addition of  PU style mount and scope (Accumounts).

Rgarding the glass bedding:

How much material  needs to  removed from  stock inletting before it can be glass bedded?

I have a stock selcted for the project. But the receiver fit is extremely tight. So tight that I have use a dowel and mallot to free the receiver from the stock.

Thanks,
BorisB

Quite an interesting specimen. Is it yours? Is it finished?
What kind of groups does it produce? What about distances? Any optics?

For now, pillar bedding is beyond my interest and even further outside of my capabilities.  Same goes for the custom stock. So glass bedding, free floating  and the PU optic are my best options for optimizing accuracy.
(Lasix is also another modification I'm considering, heh heh)

Are there any forum links for that project?

Any advice about glass bedding?

Use the product I shown a picture of.  Remove enough stock material so that the action is loose. Your creating a NEW surface with the bedding that fits the action like a glove.

Have to admit, that is a really cool final product.  Have you taken it out past 500 yds?
