« on: February 07, 2016, 04:35:00 PM »
Alright!  Lets get 2016 off on the right foot.

A staggering 8 Albys changing hands this month.

Lowest Sale Price: $393.00
Avg. Sale Price: $534.56
Highest Sale Price: $631.00
As-Issued Avg. Price: $573.67

Please let me know any feedback (good or bad) to these.

If you have an objection or observation to add to anything I've listed, by all means call it out.  Let's look at it long and hard (I only look at each listing for a minute or two at most) and maybe everyone can learn a thing or two!  thumb1

Item Link   Description   # Bids   Final Price   Year   Arsenal Condtion   Current Condition   RM's Notes

535375776   Albanian SKS 1969, Numbers Matching.   12   $631.00    1969   As-Issued   Fair   That's a pretty high premium for a gun that looks like this.  Bit of a bidding war after $515, but still.

535710217   Albanian SKS rifle dated 1971, flat blade bayonet   10   $595.00    1971   Bubba   Good   Stock is a replacement with a coat of poly.  Looks good, don't get me wrong, but it's not the way these came from Albania.

535715210   Rumanian SKS dated 1978 Flat blade bayonet   7   $482.50    1978   Refurbished   Good   IF we take this guys word for it that it's a 78, and IF this gun is indeed completely original' like he says, this is easily a $500+ gun.  Unfortunately, I can't reconcile the stock S/N with the bolt carrier S/N.  I'm thinking replacement stock.  Horrible fuzzy photos coupled with the fact this is an Alby, not 'Rumanian' (nor Roomanian) likely means this one went below market price.

536798318   Albanian SKS Semi-Auto Rifle 1970 7.62x39 NICE   5   $630.00    1970   As-Issued   Good   Another really nice one this month.

537345416   Albanian SKS very nice shape   6   $485.00    1971   Refurbished   Fair   Bummer about the mismatch trigger group.  Decent enough looking gun though.

537938855   Albanian SKS, Great Condition   12   $393.00    1968   Bubba   Good   Man that stock just looks unnatural.  These photos are simply terrible though.  Guy probably cost himself $100 here.

538023102   Albanian SKS 7.62x39 Very Nice 1978   6   $460.00    1978   As-Issued   Good   Very nice specimen bought for a song.

539971436   ALBANIAN SKS SUPER RARE 762x39 1969 MFG   1   $599.95    1969   Refurbished   Fair   Really debated rating this one a poor.  What a salty gun!!!

I think mine probably got tossed in with the Romys. It was listed as a "flat bladed Rumanian". Funny thing is he owned the '71 with the poly'd stock so he should have known the difference.

Yup I was working on the romys this afternoon and ran across it. I'll update this post when I finish all the rest of the flavors.

Looking through these auctions makes me ever so aware of PICTURE QUALITY. I'm terrible at taking pics, and I try to improve and to think about what fellow enthusiasts would want to look at, or be interested in seeing in detail. I have to scratch my head on some of these auctions, especially on the "lesser enumerated" models like the Albanians. Wow, a little effort could bring the Seller a premium price. At least a little more.

If I had to choose between the seven Albys this month, (not counting MEBears' Alby acquisition), the '70 was probably my pick.

536798318   Albanian SKS Semi-Auto Rifle 1970 7.62x39 NICE   5   $630.00    1970   As-Issued   Good   Another really nice one this month.

The '78 Alby is nice, but would it be "as-issued" with the replacement unnumbered receiver cover?

538023102   Albanian SKS 7.62x39 Very Nice 1978   6   $460.00    1978   As-Issued   Good   Very nice specimen bought for a song.  Deal of the month here!

The '71 Alby with the "flat blade bayonet". It may be the pics or just the angle of the pics, but does that spike look like it was ground to a finer point than normal? (Pics #4 & #7)  Hard to say without additional pics, I know.

535710217   Albanian SKS rifle dated 1971, flat blade bayonet   10   $595.00    1971   Bubba   Good   Stock is a replacement with a coat of poly.  Looks good, don't get me wrong, but it's not the way these came from Albania.

The '69 Alby that sold for 6 Bills threw me off a bit. That one actually looks like it's 47 years old and used for quite a bit of that time. I'm still trying to picture how they got that D-ring on the sling side mount. Talk about field expedient!

539971436   ALBANIAN SKS SUPER RARE 762x39 1969 MFG   1   $599.95    1969   Refurbished   Fair   Really debated rating this one a poor.  What a salty gun!!!

(Flat bayo).  I think the seller is just not up to speed on the sks bayo differences.  Looks normal to me.  Highly refinished though.

Those D rings have a split at the straight portion.... Im sure it was simply twisted to separate and then put over the loop. The split is hidden behind the loop itself.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I've updated the Jan listings to reflect the flat bladed Rumanian.  You got a good one this month MEB!  $50 below avg. price. thumb1

You're right FC, I certainly missed that one.  I was voting with my heart and not my head on it and missed that portion of the description.  Given the niceness of the gun, I'm going to say that it's not going to be a huge ding in the value though.  Maybe not the ultimate collector's dream Alby, but it's pretty close.
