Chuck a shotgun brush with one or two cleaning rod sections into a drill for the chamber....depending on just how bad the gas tube is, you might need to replace that....otherwise use appropriate sized brushes for each section of tube and do the same....
If the piston head is not overly pitted, it should clean up with some scrubbing....if the pitting is too deep on the shaft to allow for free travel, the piston probably has to be replaced too.
I would start with a good bore cleaner of your choice, and if needed perhaps step up to some acid to remove as much rust as you can. Watch the acid around any bluing you would like to retain though.
