Looking for soviet ammunition box
« on: August 17, 2022, 11:52:56 AM »
Hi,

Just for context :
My uncle is celebrating his 50th next year and his dream gun is SKS.
I will try my best to get, what he want/wish

So far, I have ordered him the SKS (Tula) itself and all the things associated with the equipment of a soldier equipped with an SKS. All military/original.

But now I ran into one problem. I wanted to order an ammo box. No dealer in the country imports cased ammunition. They always carry ammunition only in spam cans, without wooden crates.

Therefore, I would like to try to use this forum and try to ask for an empty ammunition box in good condition, Soviet, in caliber 7.62x39.

Here is an example of the crate I'm looking for:

If there is someone who is able to help me, I will be very happy.
Otherwise, i wish you the best at the shooting range  thumb1

Just a quick observation. I think the wooden crate pictured is for the 7.62x54R ammo. It would hold 2-440rd tins of 54R ammo.

I have a few crates laying around but freight alone may make it not worth the trouble for you. You might try local gun stores or post a want-ad in your local Big Nickel/(local For Sale/ad flyers). It'd be a lot cheaper and possibly faster.

That is definitely 7.62x54R LPS (light ball, 147grain).

I have never seen a Russian/Soviet military 7.62x39mm ammo crate in person. Common in Canada, but not so common in the US.
