I had to do a double take when I saw your SN. You can see why...

Mine: SN 1201039

Yours: SN 1201639

Both have light strikes on the arsenal marks and Chinese ideographs.

Both are from the same importer and all. I think KSI must have brought in a bunch of these as barreled actions and sold them that way. I picked up mine just like this and it looks like yours may have come that way, too. They are interesting variants.

So if I add my first 2 digits that would tell me that thedate of my rifle is maybe put out in 1968?

12th year of production = 1967

1956 - 1 + year prefix, or more simply 1955 + year prefix.  thumb1

That's a great rifle you've got there. I know you've been trying to correspond with me about it.

What you've got is a Keng's PU Sniper model. Almost all of them are usually built on 974 receivers. And almost all of them are made from non-matching parts. And you know what? They are some of the most accurate SKS's I've ever shot.

Looks like yours has the removed bayo. They were offered with and without. I would guess your stock has a filler piece to fill in the bayo groove.

You should have lots of fun shooting it. Just check the adjuster screws on the scope mount now and then.

Fiddlesticks...I had hoped another had shown up finally without a locking lug. Am I still really the only one?

I guess I can be OK with having a weirdo SKS...as I are one too....a weirdo, not an SKS...

That is a pretty rad SKS to get as a gift...I would thank myself if I gifted myself one like it.
