The 3 SVT 40’s
« on: November 06, 2020, 08:52:12 PM »
I had wanted to title it the three musketeers but of course that wouldn’t work for this. Wrong era, wrong country, wrong rifle.
So let’s start with the 1942 Tula Megnagorsk(?) The? Is for my spelling I know it’s a Tula and magna Gorski...lol . This one has the barrel shroud with the eight holes in it and the four ports on the muzzle break. It also it has an import mark. I have never fired it since I owned it and the magazine as you can see is still full of Cosmolene.

The next one is my 1941 Ishevsk. This one has the seven holes over the metal shroud and the slotted muzzle brake. Some matching numbers some electro canceled. Also imported marked and numbered magazine. This one has a cracked upper hand guard and was filled repaired by pinning it with brass pins. I did order and receive a new handguard Came in the mail today but is still at the post office because a signature was required because it was shipped from Russia.

This next one is quite the beauty. It is my finish capture Tula 1941. It is in the white and has the grooves for a sniper scope at the cut in the top of the receiver. It to has a numbered magazine with SA stamp on the floor plate. And not a single import mark on this rifle. Finnish Captured G.I. bring back!!! Something else I noticed about this is that it does not have a rifle number on the stock like the other two.

I’ve never fired any of these. I just bought them and put them away for a rainy day which might be coming.. I’m thinking about liquefying some of my collection and trying to buy some land before the world goes to shirts. Well y’all what do you think?

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Much sweetness. I've never fired mine either, '41 Tula. It's for a rainy day too, PAX

Very nice trio! thumb1

Factory #314 originally at Tula then moved to Mednogorsk in late 1941.

Your SA marked one was imported pre-1968, hence the lack of import marks. The Finn captures are nice for the lack of the Soviet rework characteristics.

What a trio.  Love the Fin Captured and think those have so much more history in them.  Hold on to those amigo.

I received my replacement handguard in the mail from Russia today. The one has a cracked hand guard and I’m not a good enough wood worker to fix it. If I ever go to sell it, I’ll offer both. The one I got in the mail is of darker wood. Thoughts, what would you do?

The new hand guard is so the original does not crack further.  Slap it on there and like you said when you sell it slap the original back on.

Or have the original fixed correctly by someone if you are not feeling up to the task. Using the extra one in the mean time and selling it afterward.
