Thinking of putting up my 1978 Very Good + condition, all serial # matching W/ Albanian oiler , cleaning kit and chi-com sling Albanian SKS for sale.
Is $850 too high ?
Guy who was looking to buy an Albanian in a WTB ad on another forum thinks I want to much.

He's probably thinking of the Sino-Banian SKSs, for those yeah, but for a Real 'made in country' Albanian I would think not. Throw it up on GunBroker you may get more.

Thanks...I thought it was in line ...couldn't even find one right now on Gunbroker

I've seen just the stocks sell for around $200-$225.

I think maybe you might even be a bit low. Albies have gotten pricey these days when you can even find one.
Only two had sold on GB in the past cycle:
Very nice one sold well over $1k:

Poor condition gun originally listed @ $999, then $899, finally sold for $799:

I sold an Alby a couple years ago for $800. Another board member sold one in the same time frame for $1200 and he thought he could have gotten a couple hunnerd more, since the first responder ponied up the 800 without blinking. He said I should have been able to get more but the fella that bought mine also picked up 3 C&R Chinese from me at the same time, so I cut him a deal on the Alby (it was fairly rough, the worst of the 3 I had). PAX

Agreed, I think you may get near $1K, possibly more.
-
The 2 Alby's I have left I wouldn't take less than $1200 in today's Kali market. But I hope nobody offers that. I've got 2 C&R SKSs for sale right now that I'm reluctant to sell. It's kinda the reverse of "I can stop anytime" for buying. I've sold a mess of rifles over the last few years, and I don't really like doing that. I hate to get rid of a SARCO built mongrel dog. PAX

I only answered his WTB ad to help him get a nice Albanian.
I am truthfully not actively looking for a buyer . He thinks $800 is a fair price after I sent him pics.
I'm not bending on the $50 but he is local and has a C&R.

As a C&R holder I would wager he is either out of touch with current market or he is playing you to get a deal so he can brag to his friends on what he got. :o ;) :))
-
I would call that excellent condition, so assuming it's all matching, that's at least a 1K gun. I wouldn't budge on the $850, he's already getting a deal.
-
The only way this rifle is worth $800 is if the potential buyer has a time machine.
From the photos alone, your '78 Alby is a very rare specimen. One could search for years and not find an Alby variant in such high condition.
$1000 seems like an absolute low end, need-to-sell-now valuation.
In the right online auction this rifle could sell for substantially more than that.

He's low-balling.
At $850 he could easily flip it and collect a hefty profit-- possibly even doubling his investment. IMHO.
-
Agreed, what many have said that is high condition easily $1K+ rifle. I'll give you $850 for it (and your answer should be... no thanks). Beats my '78 in condition.
-
I think id gracefully back out of the deal and keep it. No Really thankyou1

^^^What he said. PAX

Alby? Matching? Great condition? Oiler and accessories too? That's a 1k+ rifle any day of the week, he should have snapped it up when you gave him as good of an offer as you did. If you are trying to sell I'd maybe look for a different buyer, he either knows what it is or he doesn't, but either way it's his loss.
Nice rifle.

I'll join in and say that is a nice rifle! $800 is low....
If you listed it on Gunbroker it might go in the $1000 - 1200 range without issue.

I'm looking at one now and the guy is asking 900. I think that's a good deal
