New (to me) Hi Power
« on: January 26, 2015, 09:22:06 PM »
Thanks to a heads up from folks on the board I was able to pick up one of the surplus Hi-Powers that Numrich was offering earlier this month. Finally got a chance to go get it from my FFL today. Sorry for the crummy cellphone photos - I'll have time to get some better ones in the next week or so. This is my second surplus Hi-Power. Last year I snagged a handpicked one from AIM. Here's the new arrival:

Here it is with its brother. Newest one is on top:

The finish might be a tad bit rougher than the AIM specimen but it was also $100+ less expensive! Insides look great & the bore is beautiful. There's a bit of corrosion on one of the grip screws but beyond that there's no rust. If it's anything like my other Hi-Power it'll shoot like a dream. At right around $330 this feels a little like theft :)

More pics and a range report to come!

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't giving the SNs much love in those pics. The one from Numrich is a PR so that's an '87. The one from AIM is a PT, putting it at '86.

Dang nice.... you going for all 1980s years?   :)

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Posts like this kinda make me wish I'd have pulled the trigger on these...but heck, who am I kidding, RM only buys junk guns!  chuckles1

Nice score Mike!  thumb1 (you might have to sell a mosin or two to make room for it in the safe!)

Nice score!  I really like the looks of those.  Glad you and Adam managed to get them before they evaporated from the Numrich warehouse.

RM definitely needs a Mosin.  I think a beaver-chewed-driftwood-stocked T53 would look good next to his T56s  rofl
