Until recently, I hadn't seen much from Russia other than expensive D&T scopes...and recently I started seeing those cheapo clip on shell deflectors with a fancy paint job. This is a pretty cool non destructive shell deflector. I would use it for even non scoped SKSs.  It really isn't anything fancy by design...just a new take on a simple concept.

It uses a neodymium magnet, which are both strong and very lightweight compared to alnico type magnets. Simply slap it on the side of the receiver and you have a much easier time finding your shell casings. The sweet thing is it is completely non destructive, and requires no other accessories to mount it with/on to.  Buy one of these (albeit overpriced) deflectors and just keep it in the range bag for virtually any SKS. You can (well should) only fire one at a time...and you don't have to sweat removing it for display.  Consider it a play date with your prized unaltered SKS and a little tyke named Bubba.

Additionally, in the listing...They have it displayed on what appears to be one of those new Russian commercial market SKSs....and boy is it sexy, even though you only get a tease. The wood reminds me of my Cherry's Yugo...with a little less character.  I may be wrong about it being new production, perhaps they held on to the nice ones and just sent us their junk?

That would be great for a left hander like me but my SKS throws cases about 15 feet at 2:00 o'clock!
