That's definitely an interesting one. Serial number ㄹㅁ1032_ㅁ is the earliest example of a Type 63 in my tentative dating scheme table where the second letter after the ㄹ represents the year (unknown which year, but presumably in order of the alphabet where ㅁ is the earliest letter observed), and has a ㅁ=May suffix letter.

I pulled that number as ㄹㅁ1032_ㅍ especially based on the magazine...

What do you think?

Hmm, yeah, I think you're right. Back to a December month code in that case. We've only seen November and December for this "year" before, so it's consistent.

You are not blind.  I would not pay or bid on it for that much either.  I could pay off a whole bunch of bills with that amount of money!   ;)

Rarity and history, which are two of the main factors that drive prices in the collector's market. There are only 38 North Korean Type 63 carbines recorded as existing in the USA. 100% of those examples were brought back from the Vietnam War by returning US servicemen, since there is no other way for North Korean manufactured firearms to have entered the US. Type 63s run from about $3000 to 4500 currently, so this one is not priced out of the market.

All that I could come up with in Translator:

"You know, I have to prove the documents to get that amount."  Close?

Close enough. What it's supposed to say is closer to- do they have the documents to prove it for that amount?

As P32 stated....  these don't need papers to prove squat.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I know Randy from elsewhere and he is not foolish!  But, many others are fools and their money are soon parted!  Take it for what it is worth!  Pays your money and take your chances!  He and I both work for our money and dont get any thing handed to us for free!   ;)

What country made it, North Korea, where it came from, Vietnam, and how it got here, returning US service member, are not in doubt and require no faith. It's just the only route for the North Korean Type 63s to have entered the country thumb1

It is undoubtedly a lot of money and requires earnest consideration of whether or not you are interested in these SKS variants. You're right though, if it wouldn't give you at least $4000 worth of enjoyment to own it for some time then you would be foolish to bid on it :)

P.S. I didn't pay as much for mine and I'm not selling  :))

Not really arguing, just considering the reality that anything can be faked.  :) And people can lie. Pretty much why almost any collector of anything would want to see some kind of verification as to origin and method of entry into the USA.
