I made the mistake of doing research on sks's, now I own two paratroopers. Well officially only one until the other makes it to my ffl.
Here is #1

Not one number matches but such is life.
The other is all matching which I've come to realize is a big "so what."

Thanks but as a fool I got after it with denatured alcohol. Live and learn. Now I'm trying to decide whether to refinish this stock (which I plan to do nevertheless) or put on a choate folder. The other gun I am getting is coming with an extra poly stock so at least I have options!

Welcome from Washington State!

Too bad about the finish. Yup, shellac is dissolved in ethanol so ethanol will strip it in a hurry.  Might want to try amber shellac.  I really haven't had to (or wanted to) do a refinish on an SKS, so others with experience may be more helpful.

Nice!    What do you think of the sks thus far?

And welcome!

I tried to multi quote but no dice.
Phos, I just finished stripping it, gonna do research on how to best finish it.

Loose, I'm loving it!

Dannyboy, it's hot bruh, but not as hot as Fresno and the Valley. Just got back from yosemite et al. "But it's a dry heat" is a bunch of junk.

I used to spend about one weekend every 4-6 weeks in nola, I miss the food the most. I was born an raised in Alexandria but you can't hold that against me!

I'm from Yazoo City, MS. Came to Nola for seminary in 2008 and never left. I agree that most food outside of New Orleans is pretty dismal in comparison although the food on this last trip was surprisingly good. Even in remote touristy places that didn't even need to be good.

Great looking rifle. Having a non-match just means you can shoot more and not worry about a little scratch. Welcome aboard!

Thanks guys!
Yeah I've already decided to mess around with this one. Who knows where the bubba will take me?
As for the other, I'll probably just keep it in the box and 'mire it from time to time.
