When I fled from CA around 1998, I remember seeing most SKS rifles being sold in gunshops in Socal that had the bayonets taken off. The lugs were still there. I had inquired a few times as to why the gunshop owner were selling them castrated and was told that they were still legal to sell but not with the bayo attached. I never stuck around long enough to see if that was true. Living there almost my entire childhood was enough. Did this law actually exist or were the shop owners FOS or did this change?
One of the main reasons I moved was because I was not going to let some state tell me what I can and cannot own. I loaded my car with everything I owned and $1000 in my pocket and the rest is history. Within a few years I owned most every so-called "evil" rifle I wanted and then some.
BTW, awesome collection of SKS rifles. I am not fond of the plastic aftermarket stocks though. Did you buy them like that or add them? I assume you probably bought the Od green and black one like that. No offense but some "mall ninja" guy prolly tossed the wood stocks...sad. lol
The bayo ban wars confused many Kali FFLs with regards to Chinese SKS rifles. As recently as 2 years ago some 01s wouldn't even transfer or buy Chinese rifles due to FUD. The 2 poly stocked rifles are repo clones of very rare guns offered by the importer, KSI.
http://chinesesks.weebly.com/k-sports-composite.htmlI just happened to have a KSI branded Butler Creek stock to replicate a KSI "Parka Para" and a spare Ramline to knock off a KSI "Stealth Para". Both donors were/are KSI Hunters with the "nowhere rail", matching numbered stocks and inletting for the rails. The stock cut outs bothered me so I did some evil works to them. The Butler Creek furniture is actually some of the best, if not the best, aftermarket SKS furniture. I've used them on a couple home-grown projects. PAX
"Canadian Deer Stalker" I built out of a pre-Bubba salvage with a black BC stock (the wrist button is a little different), 18'5 barrel chop, neutered front site globe, Mojo rear peep, 5 round mag, matching numbers, very slick, very handy
Nowhere rail and stock notch as commonly found (no known mount fits the rail)
Very rare KSI Hunter without the rail cut and importer optioned as shown (except Romy sling I added...looks sweet) This rifle also has the bayo slot filled in which I believe was importer done as the finish is evenly crappy
