Guy is selling this for $350 locally so no tax, transfer fee, etc. It's a Century product but I don't know if they built it or they had someone build it. Didn't find anything searching the web. Anyone have any opinions. Thanks.

Did a little more searching and the rifle is around 25 years old. Looks clean in the pics.

I may be remembering totally wrong, but I am thinking it was an early import Mini Mauser which later became the Zastava M85. Hopefully one of the Mauser guys can chime in here soon.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Looks like a CAI built Deluxe Custom Sporter made from a Mauser action with a rechambered barrel and a new stock.

Here's one that sold way back in 2003: https://www.gunauction.com/buy/5333517

And here's a more recent one in .308 Winchester:  https://www.proxibid.com/Century-Arms-Sporter-Mauser-Action-Rifle-308-Winch/lotInformation/62214281

Not a bad deal, wish I lived in Louisiana!!

Well this one got away. He dropped the price to $350 and someone snagged it before I saw it. I had just agreed to purchase a Maadi AK with a 20 inch barrel that I'm picking up tomorrow. This had me dragging my feet a bit. Can't buy them all, where would you keep them. Thanks anyway guys.

Don't know much about the MAADIs but from what little I know it sounds like a great score. The early imports are great AKs and bring premium prices. Hope it's a good one!   thumb1 thumb1 thumb1

Did the Mauser use the original magazine? Do you know anything about that?....

Sorry I don't. I actually sent the original seller a note yesterday. I want to contact the buyer and see if he would part with it.

Century was a Zastava commercial rifles importer for a while. The rifle pictured appears to be the Zastava "mini mauser. It is still sold by Zastava even now (I bought a brand new one last month) as the LK M85.

I have been looking for a while for a bolt 7.62x39 rifle. Every so often I spend a bit of time looking and a new Zastava popped up, M85, so I grabbed it. Nice wood, all metal finishes nice but the rifle needs to be used to get slick. Not complaining, just not perfect. I recently purchased a CZ 22 and that baby is slick. I shot the Zastava this morning at 25 yards with steel case ammo and it was grouping pretty nice. I am going to work on the rifle a bit and see if I can get the action a little smoother and see what it will do a bit further out.
