Thanks!  Figured it was a commercial mark.

Commercial gun, likely a scrub & refurbish.  The G4 has no relevance to the S/N and was marked long after the carbine left the factory.

Here are a few more in the "12" commercial series, some with suffixes, some without.  Note that they all don't have the same font or font spacing, so despite having similar S/Ns, they may not be related to each other at all:

They are odd ducks for certain.  You typically hardly ever see Chinese type 56s with dual markings like that.

Seems like from Hi/Low S/N's I have in my files, there was a fair run of at least 14000 (that is assuming that rifles in the middle of these two below were also all /416\ marked)

Some SKS M from Birklee imports had the /416\ stamp still intact.
See here: http://chinesesks.weebly.com/m.html

I wonder if the arsenal stamp was left intact when it was so far to the forward end of the receiver.

Hi guys! Long time no see... :)

I just saw an odd duck that made me curious... a fella over at the AK Files has an M for sale that has both the SKS-M marking and a /416\ arsenal mark.
I know I've never seen that before, how rare is it?

Thanks. One of my projects down the road is to take a Para and Alby furniture and build a Para length rifle in Alby wood. I'm calling it a T54 Tanker  8) PAX

I was actually amazed at how accurate this one is , the prices on the para have really shot through the roof , I don’t see them getting any cheaper , great variant to add to the pile 👍

I've got 3 KSLs, this one is my bestest and I just listed these on Calguns, PAX

I never realized there were so many variants - nice photo 🫡

I never saw a KSI with a bayo. Their rifles are usually quite clean. The donor rifles for Paras look like new guns were cut down. The guts are in great shape. PAX
