Russian Addition
« on: March 28, 2023, 01:54:49 AM »

Stopped by the LGS the other day to kill a rainy afternoon and noticed a new addition on the Milsurp rack , after a quick glance it appeared to be unissued and in great shape  thumb1

Not having much knowledge on these rifles I decided pick her up and give it a quick trip to the range .. it appears to have been produced in 1946 at the Izzy factory according to the arsenal stamp but again my knowledge on these is a bit thin !

The blueing appears to be in great shape and the wood furniture is also clean, even the bayo is like new .

Back in the day these things sold really cheap at the show and the sardine can of ammo was also cheap - you could totally dislocate your shoulder for under $100

A few rounds at the range was spot on .. I think I’m gonna like this M44

Nice 1946 Izhevsk! The post-war production (1946-48) of these M44s was relatively low compared to 1944-45, so an especially excellent find  8)

The sling is upside down though. Easy fix :) better yet get a proper carbine sling.

I’ve recently given away some of my old collectibles such as this old Springfield 1911 and a few carbines , I’ve added a few range toys just to get out and plink with , I’ve generated some good will in the local gun community and sometimes these things come back with good results !

I find the most fun in picking up these old Milsurp weapons and just having quality range time  thumb1

Last year this time I was in the hospital on life support , today I was working in my garden , we can’t take it with us .. I try to concentrate on what really matters in my old age 👍

Nice 1911.  Too bad I wasn't near you!!  The M44 is a nice flame thrower wink1.
