One of 2 I recently bought from a local.. All I was told about it was it was in a mess of his fathers stuff and he had no use for it, he wanted enough to purchase a newer more modern revolver...so after inspection, I paid the low asking price without question......and ran. This is 1 of what I ended up with... a prewar 1937 Tula, non refurbed, non import stamped 1895 Nagant. Judging by the look, it could very well be a battlefield pick up. Strangely the front barrel section serial does not match the frame serial...nor does the wear match, but it does have a fairly nice bore w/some hazing. Might have been a field repair or making a single working weapon out of two. Looks like it shows some possibly blood etching in places as well, one thing is, she's been well used. It took some serious cleaning to get it freed back up, and an eviction of dust bunny hoards in the cylinder and barrel, and has the typical million pound trigger pull.

Kinda makes one wonder if that came back in a duffel bag from Korea or Vietnam.
That's WAAAAY cooler than the Nagant revolvers that were really common a few years back. Add the holster and it really ratchets up the coolness.
That's not a weld in picture # 4 is it?

I have a refurbed Nagant I got way back when they were like 89 bucks.. and yeah, this one has the serious coolness factor... the holster I got nothing on, no clue, but it's definitely one I have never seen before.
No its not a weld,it's machined.

Would you post some more pictures of the holster?
Looks like it might have originally for something else and forced into service.
I bought an old Webley pistol that came with a holster. When I laid hands on it, it was a WWII issue 1911 brown leather holster that someone had cut to fit the Webley. That hurt me because an original WWII 1911 holster is worth a few bucks.

I found a Sauer holster thats close.. almost...but not quite.. It is from a semi-auto, not modern and I'm guessing European.. One weird thing is the flap closure strap is backwards from alot of the ones I've seen, the flap latch pin is usually on the main body, not the flap. There is no markings with the exception of a diamond stitched in the back near the belt loop 3rd photo. The leather is thin and not really a high quality like a German holster...the stitching as shown looks quick and rushed, almost like ammo bundle string was used to stitch it, 4th photo.

What caught my eye was that area on the front that sorta looks like the spot for the extra mag on some of the European auto holsters.
I've not seen one like this before.

Even with the mismatch, that is MUCH better than an import marked matching refurb. It is tough to find Russian guns with no updates since the WWII era.

I agree with Martin. I would rather have mismatched original than matching refurb! GM strikes pay dirt again!

I have two M1895s, a typical tefurb that’s good for shooting surplus and a non-import marked matching example that’s very worn but more collectible by far.
I’ve never been able to find a clear answer on whether or not no import mark means bringback or if there were Nagants that came in from Spain or elsewhere before 1968.

Interesting question.. I've wondered as well..Most early ones from Spain..I thought like the Mosins were stamped, Made in USSR or Made in URRS.. Maybe thats just Spanish Civil War stuff.. but, then again... it is dated correctly for that too..1937.
Yeah.. I've got a refurb too I've shot, like shooting a starting pistol with a horrible trigger.. I even bought the .32acp conversion cylinder when they were sold together by Aim..
