SAR 3
« on: August 23, 2015, 09:58:51 PM »
I recently picked up a like new SAR 3. I have no experience with this AK variant and would like to hear feedback from those who have.

Welcome aboard!

I have no experience with the SAR 3 but I really like the looks of it in classic wood furniture.  Please post some pics of yours if you're so inclined.  We'd love to see it  thumb1

I was just shooting some 5.56x45mm today, but it was out of my Daniel Defense M4, so no help there  :))

I'll try to get a couple pictures posted sometime this week.

I have a SAR-1 and love it. I haven't had it out for serious yet, but the first time I shot it, it left a two inch hole about 3" below point of aim in the ground in front of and through the board I was shooting at a knot in at 50 yards.
No threads on the muzzle or bayo lug, but the muzzle is the right diameter to thread.

I have SAR-1 and SAR-2 rifles. I had intended to finish the set with a SAR-3, but the availability and prices for the steel 30rd. German Weiger mags were a concern for me. (These were what worked best in the SAR-3 rifles, from what I understand and may have been manufactured with intent of using that mag. I have an original 10rd. Weiger mag. They are quality mags.)
My SAR-1 has never failed me. The different caliber/magazine combination with the 5.56 SAR-3 had many owners trying to use various bakelite and plastic mags, which malfunctioned frequently. What magazine/s did you get with your rifle?  Any feeding problems?
