Title: Which is better AmmoSeek or Gun-deals
Post by: Greatguns on July 30, 2020, 01:43:38 PM
As the title says, which do you guys prefer to find your ammo to get the best prices, or do you have another avenue of approach?

I go to SG ammo exclusively.  Sam Gabbert is as straight a shooter as they come and that org has always treated me well.

Ammoseek was what I used back during the Sandy Hook panic to see what deals were available (not many were)  I remember buying 500 rounds of Brown Bear from AIM for north of $180 for a buddy of mine who didn't have any.  Crazy times.

Yeah, I like SG Ammo and have bought from them many times over the years. Sometimes you have to go looking though, LOL.

I usually stick with Ammo-Seek, but I have used Gun-Deals, and others. Ammo-seek always seems to get me where I can dig and find a deal or two.

+1 on SGAmmo (most I bought was from them), however I do use AmmoSeek often and if I see a deal...

Let's add this one to the mix: https://unammo.com/

You may get a security warning, but they address that on the website. The warning should disappear in a few days.

I like gunbot and AmmoSeek when I’m looking for prices and what’s available. I have a lot of firearms chambered in uncommon (and a few extinct) calibers, so AmmoSeek with their greater breadth of coverage is good for those.

Like others, about 9/10 times I buy from SG Ammo. Sam runs a good outfit  thumb1 I’ve bought from Target Sports and a few others too, including UN Ammo that Larry mentioned.

I have scored some great surplus ammo deals at the auction houses in the past but not much lately.

UN Ammo is sorta local to me. Only 40-ish miles away.
I know the guy that runs it. He used to scour Shotgun News and every printed media, then the internet, looking for good deals on bulk ammo.
He was selling it out of the trunk of his car for a long time.

He's a good guy, and sells - not only to make a living - but also to help folks find ammo at a respectable prices so they can get out and shoot.

As an aside, Howie bears a passing resemblance to Ron Jeremy of vintage porn fame. In fact, he used to use a photo of Ron as his avatar on the local gun board.

That reminds me, a couple weeks back an ex bandmate, who is now my sister's boyfriend texted me, I hadn't heard from him in awhile...the previous message from him was a couple of photos of my sister and Ron Jeremy, with whom she had just kissed...twice...with tongue.  :P :o ???
She bumped into him at the same local burger joint I was five feet from Bill Clinton at once. He was in town for a local rugby tournament called Maggot Fest...guess he was a guest of honor. Saw a month or so ago he was arrested charged with rape.

Back to the program, I just picked up a pretty decent deal on Brown Bear and some 8x56r from https://www.militaryshooters.com/  first online ammo purchase....but I used some kind of website that searched deals to find them...alas, it was neither of these...and I cannot recall it either. I spent a lot of time trying to find the Mannlicher stuff and lost track. They are now out of stock on everything, glad I jumped.  $126 for 500 rounds of IN STOCK x39 made me happy, as it reduced the 56r down to a reasonable price per round after shipping.  Only after it arrived did I realize how low I am on stripper clips.  I have had worse problems. :)
