US Navy Intercepts 1,400 AKs in the Arabian Sea

"On December 22, the US Navy reported that two days earlier it had intercepted a fishing vessel attempting to smuggle weapons through the Arabian Sea. On board, Coast Guard and Navy personnel found 226,600 rounds of ammunition and 1,400 AK-pattern assault rifles. While the vessel was stateless, the five men comprising the crew identified themselves as Yemeni."

Many a Christmas has passed and I have considered just sending him one wrapped in a red bow and a copy of my C&R, just out of the wholesome goodness of my heart. Can anyone tell what it is that's sitting to the right of the AK's? Almost looks like rifle grenades but I don't know why they'd be without the protective tubes? I can't tell for sure that that's what they are though. Anybody else have a WAG?
